IronOne AI Labs Showcases Next-Gen AI Agents at Japan IT Week Spring 2025

28 May 2025

IronOne AI Labs, the dedicated Artificial Intelligence arm of IronOne Technologies, proudly represented Sri Lanka on the global tech stage at Japan IT Week, held at Tokyo Big Sight from April 23–25. As one of Asia’s largest and most prestigious B2B IT exhibitions, the event drew thousands of technology leaders, business decision-makers, and global investors.

At the heart of IronOne AI Labs’ showcase were scalable, cost-effective AI Agents and intelligent automation solutions designed for industries such as manufacturing, banking, logistics, and supply chain. With Japan’s aging population and growing need for digital transformation, the response from Japanese enterprises was overwhelmingly positive—resulting in promising leads and meaningful conversations about long-term collaboration.

Representing IronOne AI Labs were Manori Unambuwe, VP – Global Strategy, and Lushanthan Sivaneasharajah, Head of Data Science. They led discussions on Agentic AI, Digital Twins, Industrial AI, Small Language Models (SLMs), and Behavioral Analysis. A minimum viable demo was also unveiled, demonstrating the adaptability of AI Agents in real-world enterprise settings.

In the lead-up to the exhibition, the team participated in curated pre-event activities, including:

  • A briefing at the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) headquarters in Tokyo on Japanese market entry strategies.
  • Business networking events co-organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan, the Export Development Board (EDB), and Minato City Industrial Promotion Center, designed to foster partnerships with local business leaders and entrepreneurs.
  • A special conference hosted by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo, where IronOne AI Labs presented their AI capabilities to a distinguished audience, including the Deputy Chief of Mission, Ms. Sesath Thambugala.

This impactful presence was enabled by the strategic support of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Their ongoing initiative, launched in 2024, aims to boost Sri Lanka’s ICT sector in Japan through tailored coaching, strategic matchmaking, and business development support.

Manori Unambuwe commented,“Japan IT Week offered a unique opportunity to connect with forward-thinking businesses actively seeking AI-powered transformation. The level of interest in our AI Agent technology was phenomenal. With Japan’s evolving workforce dynamics and Sri Lanka’s rise as a digital innovation hub, IronOne AI Labs is well-positioned to deliver scalable, intelligent solutions.”

Founded by tech trailblazer Lakmini Wijesundera, who also serves on Sri Lanka’s National AI Strategy Taskforce, IronOne AI Labs is committed to establishing Sri Lanka as a global center for AI innovation. The company’s presence at Japan IT Week marks a pivotal step in that journey—reinforcing its role in the international high-tech arena.

With valuable partnerships from JICA, EDB, and JETRO, IronOne AI Labs’ participation was a resounding success—solidifying its position as a leading AI innovator from South Asia and paving the way for future collaboration in Japan and beyond.
